Shabazz Palaces – Black Up (Subpop)

I managed to get ahold of the Shabazz Palaces record recently while on holiday in New York. I’ve slowly been getting back in to hip hop recently and after reading an interview with them in Wax Poetics I was excited to see this on vinyl. It is brilliant. It is a really interesting record and I listened to this a lot while walking about the streets of Brooklyn. All futuristic beats and crazy rapping on it. It reminded me a little of Anti Pop Consortium. I am a little annoyed that I missed them when they played in Glasgow recently. Hopefully they will be back. Anyway, check out the album sampler above.
