I’ve recently been going through a period where I have been unable to read books. I’m never quite sure why this happens, but it does. I’ve been trying to read several books on and off for about the last year. I usually return to something familiar to help me get through this. Recently I was back at my parent’s house and I started to read Going Solo by Roald Dahl. I love his work. It really is incredible. He makes books so easy to read and also highly enjoyable. I remember getting Boy and Going Solo at the same time and devouring both of them. They were probably the first non-fiction books that I ever read. I think they were closely followed by Gerald Durrell’s My Family And Other Animals. Anyway, to get back to to the point, Roald Dahl’s Going Solo is an excellent book. It tells of his time in Africa and also as a pilot during the Second World War. One of the best parts of the book is when he is describing his voyage by boat to Africa from England and all the interesting people that he meets. His time working for Shell is full of anecdotes about the various animals he met and also some eccentric people. His time in the RAF is highly interesting. I don’t really want to give anything away. Obviously you should read Boy first, as this deal’s with his childhood. I really do highly recommend both these books, especially if you have enjoyed any of his work.
So Pivot have changed their name to PVT after receiving a cease and desist. I quite like this new song. It reminds me of something else, but I can’t think what it is at the moment.

I finally got round to sending off 5 rolls of out of date slide film that I shot earlier this year. Here are some of the results. Still waiting on 2 rolls of film to come back through the post.
Listening to Benji B this week, he played this tune. It is amazing. I can’t stop listening to it at the moment. I’ve not even got the whole way through the radio show yet. Anyway, this is some great melodic techno. Recorded in the 90s but only released in 2004.
Julian House is back with the new video for The Oscillation.

This Friday in Glasgow I will be DJing at The Ivy on Argyle Street. Second time in two weeks. I’ll be playing some completely different stuff and I just hope some of the new records I have ordered will turn up in time for this. It should be a blast. Thanks to Craig for inviting me along. Above is Craig’s interpretation of the poster that I knocked up for this event. Thanks to Edwin for his guidance.

I’ve been enjoying the work of Goblin again recently. I got hold of their non sountrack album, Roller. It is as you would expect, excellent. More of the same. Snip Snap is a highlight for me, but all of it is essential listening.
