So, last week as part of the Glasgow Film Festival, Zombie Zombie came over from Paris and performed music from the films of John Carpenter. It was brilliant! I had wanted to see them live for ages, but they had cancelled the last Glasgow gig for some reason. Anyway, they did not disappoint. I’ve never been in Mono when it has been so busy. They played songs from all the big movies and their interpretation of the Assault On Precinct 13 theme tune was a belter. Anyway, if you want to hear the gig, the wonderful people over at Subcity have been producing podcasts for the Glasgow Film Festival. Head on over there and download it now. Oh yeah, one more thing. Thanks to BitsOfBobs for letting me use his wonderful picture of Zombie Zombie.

Now this is an enjoyable album. Not only is it produced by Carl Craig, La Boca did the sleeve design for it too. The first track, For Falling Asleep, is an excellent acid house tune. Its 20 minutes long and instead of making me fall asleep it does the exact episode. Its all analogue beats and bleeps with some added saxophone! No seriously, saxophone. It works well on the tune as well. I love it and when it gets to the end of the song, man, it really is amazing! You would never expect to hear a harp in the mix. For me that track really is the highlight of the album, but Entropy, the single from the album, is really nice as well. This is someone making electronic music without really having that kind of background, so its nice and not your usual dance floor material. If you are into all things analogue then this is definitely worth checking out. Also the sleeve notes are enjoyable read too.
I really like the recent Fact Magazine mix by Space Dimension Controller. It seems that he is from Northern Ireland and he is producing some 4/4 Electro Funk music, which is really good. I’ve been listening to the tracks on his myspace page most of this afternoon and even ordered the 12″ that he has produced. There are loads of his own tracks in the Fact Magazine mix, which is cool to hear. It’s kinda electro and techno stuff. Nice to listen to and get on with some work.
So Gil Scott-Heron is back with a new album. This is the first single to be taken from it. I quite like the video. People dressed up as skeletons skating the Brooklyn Banks. Nice. Thanks to Sally for the link.
This is a belter of a tune. I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently and listening to it too. It is an amazing song.

I’ve been watching the extras of Aliens on the Alien Quadrilogy box set today. It really is an impressive film. I am looking forward to the Alien prequel that has been announced.
