Andy Votel has done a stint on Dublab and it is now available to download. I’ve not listened all the way through, but its sounding pretty damn good! Just right click on download below and save it to your hard drive. Enjoy!
Sypco, or the scrummy yummy pizza company is a fantastic pizza place in Glasgow. Its situated underneath Central Station on Argyle Street and specialises in New York style pizza. You can buy by the slice or you can buy a whole pie. The staff are very friendly and the pizza is the best I have tasted in Glasgow!
I’m a little gutted that this magazine has stopped. Times are tough at the moment. I thought that +1 magazine was one of the better magazines out there. I would even have paid for it, but it was free. Well, I hope that everyone involved has gone on to something else. I first got into this through French. He mentioned that he had an interview in it, so I went and checked out the magazine for that and it was great. Then the next issue had a good interview with Voice Of The Seven Woods. From then on I would just pick it up. The recent issue has an interview with La Boca and DC Recordings, so I recommend checking it out if you are interested in their work.
This got released when Finders Keepers Records updated their website, of course as soon as I saw it was for sale I grabbed a copy. I’ve only just taken the photo of my digital camera. I’ve been a bit busy recently. Anyway, this 7″ is great. Its two edits from the mix he did for Finders Keepers. The A-side is a megamix of tracks much like a Lesson in Finders Keepers releases. I really like the B-side though which is a great edit of Zalim by Ersen. Gotta love that Turkish Funk. Anyway, this is out now and there are only 500 copies. No idea where you can get it from, which is obviously of no help at all.
I was in Edinburgh a while ago, I am so far behind in my blog posts its unreal. Anyway, I picked up a copy of Maps by Nigel Peake when I was in Analogue Books checking out the Julian House Ghost Box exhibition, which was excellent. Maps is similar to Sheds and it is a collection of Maps that Nigel Peake has drawn. I really like it. There is an introduction by Nicolas Firket and a short essay by Tim Abrahams. I really like his drawing style and if you liked Sheds, then this is definitely worth picking up as well. Its been out for a while and is available from the Analogue website.
While Blue Monday is an amazing song, I think Confusion is my favourite New Order track. Check out the cool video. I think its because this is breakdancing music. If there was one point in time that I could travel back to, it would be New York at the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. It just seemed to go off!
I really like Primer. It’s an impressive film with lots of weirdness in it. You need to stay awake to watch it. Its quite quick though. I still can’t believe it only cost $7,000 to make. Impressive.
