The above images come from Chris Marker‘s film La Jetée. It tells the story of a future where an atomic war has taken place and the only way to make things better is to travel through time. It was a massive influence on the film Twelve Monkeys. I still haven’t seen this film, but I have spent a lot of time reading through the book which is available. It reminds of the scenes of the future from Terminator. Everybody has to live underground, where it is dark and claustrophobic. I like how everyone in the story has their eyes covered at some point apart from the girl.

With deadlines and degree shows, the end of May signals both endings and beginnings, and whether this is a holiday in Benidorm or a new job in a call centre, it’s as good an excuse as any to bring in the summer with some loud records. Of course we’d love to promise sunshine, mojitos and soft grass, but given this is a car park in a Scottish industrial estate, we’d recommend bringing a box of Stella and some paracetamol to help outrun the night before, along with a jacket for when that blazing sun goes down. Proceedings will be kicking off late afternoon with all manner of narcotic electronic sounds from P. Change alongside hosts Rhythmachine & Grampian Mountains, then we’re proud to be handing over to Andrew Samoyed for an essential headlining appointment in what will be a rare DJ set on Dun Deagh soil.
