Now-Again Records on Drip.fm

Now-Again Records logo

I’ve just signed up to the Now-Again Records Drip.fm subscription service. It’s only $15 a month and for that you get all the new releases in high quality mp3 format or on wav. I remember when the label first started and I picked up a couple of the early releases. I got more interested in listening to future beats and house records and I forgot all about old funk and soul, until a friend of mine told me about this subscription service. I was impressed by the Stones Throw service, but didn’t sign up for it. However, I signed up for the Now-Again one straight away. I’m looking forward to listening to the releases as they drop. Seems like you might get the odd t-shirt and other stuff through the subscription service as well.

Tin Roof 19 May 2012 Dundee

Rhythmachine & Grampian Mountains present a very special off-Degree Show Party in the industrial grounds of the artist run Tin Roof studios of Dundee.

With deadlines and degree shows, the end of May signals both endings and beginnings, and whether this is a holiday in Benidorm or a new job in a call centre, it’s as good an excuse as any to bring in the summer with some loud records. Of course we’d love to promise sunshine, mojitos and soft grass, but given this is a car park in a Scottish industrial estate, we’d recommend bringing a box of Stella and some paracetamol to help outrun the night before, along with a jacket for when that blazing sun goes down. Proceedings will be kicking off late afternoon with all manner of narcotic electronic sounds from P. Change alongside hosts Rhythmachine & Grampian Mountains, then we’re proud to be handing over to Andrew Samoyed for an essential headlining appointment in what will be a rare DJ set on Dun Deagh soil.

I am messing about with Tumblr. Mainly just on a visual tip. I am hoping to expand the writing element of this blog and I have had a few ideas on some mini articles. Anyway, the tumblr address is buildanddestroy.tumblr.com. How original.

Gua Yang Tou Mai Gou Rou

Finally after what seems like five years of talking shit, LBLISM tees are here. This is more my friend than me, but I guess I tell him what to do really. Hopefully there will be another design out soon. Freshness in 2009. Anyway, these are available to buy for excellent price of £25. So head over to the site and place your order.

RIP JG Ballard

JG Ballard died on Sunday morning. While I am not a great fan of his later work, I do enjoy his earlier novels. He certainly had a great way of writing. I guess he will always be known for writing Empire Of The Sun, which was about his experiences as a child during World War Two. This was turned into a movie by Steven Spielberg and starred a young Christian Bale. It flopped at the cinema, but I think it is a fantastic film. I’ve never read the book, but I am tempted to read it now. Some of the themes that appeared in his books were celebrity culture, surveillance culture and global warming. I rate him as highly as I rate Philip K Dick. Anyway, if you want to read more about JG Ballard’s death then head over to the BBC website.

Belbury Youth Club Night

bycn

This night looks totally amazing. You have Julian House and Jim Jupp from Ghostbox djing, along with Jonny Trunk, Woebot and Mark Pilkington. You also have Broadcast performing an improvised soundtrack to a short film by Julian House and to top it off they will be showing loads of weird tv programmes and weird public information films. If you live in London, you should make the effort to go to this.

Rob Hall @ Analogical Force

Looking for a new Rob Hall DJ mix? Then never fear. There is a new one over at the Analogical Force website. Not had a chance to listen to it yet, but hopefully it’s good. It’s about 2 hours long as well. Nice one.
