Letherette

My friend Craig introduced me to Letherette at some point last year. I never really got into them until I head their remix of Bibio, which is by far the best thing on his album, The Apple And The Tooth.

Letherette have an ep out soon on Alex Nut’s new label Ho Tep. If you have heard their BTS radio mix, then you will recognise some of the tunes. I can’t wait for the 12″ to come out. There will also be a digital release of the record, but this will come out later. Letherette are definitely the best thing to come out of Wolverhampton.

Pivot – The Quick Mile

Pivot have a new track on their myspace player. It’s called “The Quick Mile”. I like it. It sees a change in direction with the addition of some vocals to their sound. Its also available on the Warp 2010 compilation that you can pick up in all good record store for only £3. You can also get it from Bleep. Pivot also have a new website, so head on over there for a look now.

Loops Haunt – Rubber Sun Grenade EP (Fortified)

loopshaunt

This is going to be coming out on 12″ at the end of November, beginning of December. It will be limited to 500 copies and there will be a digital release at some point after the vinyl release. I am quite excited about it. Check out the Fortfified Audio myspace page to hear the songs.

Four Tet – There Is Love In You (Domino)

So Four Tet is back with a new album which is due out on the 25th of January 2010. I can’t wait. I loved the Ringer EP from last year and the recent single Love Cry is pretty good. He’s really changed his style, which in my eyes is a good thing as Everything Ecstatic was quite disappointing apart from the first single from it. He will also be touring as well. I’ve stuck the date below the album track listing. Oh yeah, he has a new look website as well.

Album Track List:
1. Angel echoes
2. Love cry
3. Circling
4. Pablo’s heart
5. Sing
6. This unfolds
7. Reversing
8. Plastic people
9. She just likes to fight

UK Tour Dates:
Friday 12th February: London – The Dome
Thursday 11th March: Manchester – Club Academy
Friday 12th March: Leeds – TJs

Mixed Blood Cuts

Mixed Blood Cuts

I picked up the first release on Richard Sen‘s Mixed Blood Cuts a while ago. I had already heard one of the tracks on Beats In Space and the other track is a disco thing. I quite like these re-edits. Not sure of what any of the original tracks are, but I have the next couple coming through the post as we speak. You can listen to most of the tracks up on the Mixed Blood Cuts myspace page and the records are still available through Juno and Piccadilly Records if you are after them. I think Juno might be offering Digital Downloads too. Anyway, I found a Richard Sen mix on the Red Bull Music Academy radio station, so you can have a listen if you want below.

Etienne Jaumet

Etienne Jaumet‘s album Night Music is out on Monday the 9th of November on Versatile records. I’m quite looking forward to it. It’s been produced by Carl Craig. Check out the video of him fooling around on some synthesizers. There also seems to be quite a few videos of him in his house, so check them out too.

LCD Soundsystem remixed by Theo Parrish

lcdtheo

I first heard this remix on Benji B‘s show on 1xtra. It is a remix of part 3 from LCD Soundsystem‘s 45:33 that they did for Nike and iTunes a few years ago? Anyway, the Theo Parrish remix is amazing. I can’t stop listening to it at the moment. It’s sounds like everything is out of time and also out of tune. It’s an amazing ten minute piece of music. The 12″ also comes in a great yellow sleeve as you can see above. Check it out if you can.

The Emperor Machine on Redbull Music AcademyRadio

pic_the_emperor_machine-large

I have been meaning to post this up for ages. Anyway, Andy Meecham aka The Emperor Machine has done a wee fireside chat for Redbull Music Academy. It’s pretty interesting, though I keep missing the Chicken Lips part whenever I listen to the show. You can listen down below.
