Here is the latest video for PVT. It is for their new single Light Up Bright Fires from their current album Church With No Magic. This is one of the stand out tracks from the album from me. I really like it. I think its great. I wonder if this will get a physical release?

I had been meaning to buy this single by Beak> for ages and only got round to it last week. I can’t stop listening to Wulfstan. I think it has become my favourite Beak> track and I love the self titled album. Someone has kindly stuck it up on youtube so you can listen to it. I’m becoming a huge fan of bandcamp as well and think that this is a great way for artists to distribute their music. I really hope they tour again as I would love to see them again. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy this track and buy it.
There are so many good records out at the moment. This is definitely one of my favourites. Lone has gone all warehouse party, but still with his own style. I’ve been listening to this loads in the last week or so. I think the 10″ has sold out in most shops and has definitely sold out at the distributor. If you see it snap it up. I had to get my copy form Juno. Just listen to it to make your mind up about it.
I hadn’t seen this film in ages and Lovefilm sent it to me yesterday. I love it. It is such a great film. I had completely forgotten that Richard Linklater had directed it. If you’ve never seen it, then check it out. Its set in a town in Texas during the last day of school before they break up for the summer. It follows the new freshman and the new seniors with their initiation rites. Its just a great film to watch.
This is an amazing song by Can. I first heard it on a Four Tet DJ mix and I wanted to know what it was. The drums are just so hip hop. It would be so easy to loop this up and make a decent hip hop track out of it.
I am really looking forward to this. Not long until it is on the TV. I’ll even tune in live to watch it. Not been this excited about something on terrestrial TV for ages. It is being shown on September the 7th on Channel 4.
It has been ages since I listened to this. I’ve been going through an early DJ Shadow phase. I know this is an incredible album and what DJ Shadow did is impressive, but this does feel like a really good mixtape. There are some amazing tracks on here, but the sound quality is not the best at times. Not that it matters a great deal. Its just so full of ideas. I feel like it is quite an uplifting album. I never got round to checking out the remastered 2 CD version of it. Maybe I should. I remember when this came out and I made my own version of the album on tape. I had the full version of What Does Your Soul Look Like? on it as well the DJ Shadow Klub Mix of Meiso by DJ Krush. I changed the order of the tracks too. It was wicked. Wonder if I still have the tracklisting kicking about. I could make an itunes playlist with it on it.
I bought this album just after Christmas in 1996 and its been played a lot. The intro was so good and I remember when one fo the radio presenters from Clyde 1 used it as his ident on the station. I am not joking. It was a prime time breakfast show. Can’t remember what DJ it was though. The Number Song is still a favourite of mine to this day. I’ve only heard it in a club twice in my life. The first time was when I saw Mr Scruff for the first time. It was a great experience. It does sound great on a big system. I love all the transmissions throughout the album as well. They are all from the John Carpenter movie Prince Of Darkness.
I love the sampling of Bjork on Mutual Slump. I love Possibly Maybe and its weird to think that that was the first sample he ever cleared. The beats on the track are from Pugh – Love, Love, Love which is some weird old psychedelic rock record. I really like it when you hear the original samples. Organ Donor is great too and the extended overhaul which is on the b-side to High Noon is great. Napalm Brain/Scatter Brain is probably my favourite track of the whole album. It just works so well. The sample at the start about Dr Neptune’s delicious elixir and then the guitar bit in it as well. There used to be a website that listed all the samples that DJ Shadow used and I remember emailing them to say where the Dr Neptune sample came from. This was around 1998. I wish that website was still around but DJ Shadow asked for it to be taken down so he didn’t get letters from lawyers! Hahaha! Awesome. Anyway, loads of people have written about Endtroducing and these are just my thoughts about it. Give it a spin again if you haven’t listened to it for ages. It still sounds good.
